Greetings from Greenwood!

My name is Sheryl Nienhaus, and I am the principal of Greenwood Elementary School effective January 2022. I have had the fortune of working in a variety of educational settings as well differing roles. My career in education began as a teacher in co-operative preschool settings where I collaborated closely with parent and guardian volunteers. I genuinely enjoyed working with both the youngest students and their first teachers. As a seasoned elementary educator, I have been privileged to facilitate the learning of students in grades four, three, two and kindergarten for over sixteen years. In between some of my classroom teaching experiences, and most recently these past few years, I serviced students, staff, and families as an elementary school counselor. This past December I transitioned from this role at Princeton Elementary School to my current position here at Greenwood. As the new principal, I am both humbled and honored to serve the Greenwood community.

Greenwood Elementary School is a fabulous learning environment that has a strong, dedicated, and caring staff. We believe in educating the whole child which is geared toward their social, emotional, and academic development. We are a PBIS school that believes in positive behavior supports, learning from mistakes, taking responsibility for actions, recognizing kindness in another, and learning ways to resolve conflicts in a win-win way. Although these past couple of years have minimized the number of volunteers physically participating in our school, we partnership with parents and guardians to provide the best educational experience for all students, each day.
